ok...

so far confirmed for the event are Peter Tangen, Tea Krulos, and Aldair Cole (documentary)
waiting now for word back from my police contact on some things. (he was on vacation over Christmas and new year's)
waiting to hear back from my church on some possible space.

also sent out the following press release to local media and city govt and police. Yes, I did borrow some of the wording from various sources and had some help from a friend who writes these things for a living

SUPERHEROES ARE COMING TO VANCOUVER.
Real Life Superheroes are coming together during the Olympics.
VANCOUVER, B.C.- Real-life superheroes are coming to Vancouver in
February of 2010 to meet-up while the city celebrates the Winter Olympic
Games. They are coming from all across North America and some are even
coming from Europe and Asia.
Superheroes have historically been an instrument in relaying pro social
values. Not surprisingly, the same values that make a hero today are the same
in the late 1930s when the first comic book superheros were being invented:
trustworthiness, bravery, selflessness, and passion. These hallmarks of
fictional iconic characters are the same that the Real Life Superheroes strive
to embody.
Life has indeed imitated art as conscientious citizens in superhero attire have
descended upon their communities, intent on making a difference. They are
bringing superheroes from the comics into the real world.
The Real Life Superheroes is a grassroots movement that works in a fun,
exciting, and inspirational fashion to make the world a better place. We are
using the iconic ism of comic book superheroes to make a difference, inspire
others, spread a positive message, and call attention to issues in our
1 Of 3
communities. The Real Life Superheroes work to make the world a better
place by doing civic activities, charity work, public safety patrols, hospital
visits, school talks, distributing wanted and missing person fliers, helping the
homeless, community clean-ups, and more
Our main objective is to inspire others. We hope through our actions we can
inspire others to go out and do good, help others, and stand up for what they
believe in. There is a hero in everyone and we need to bring it out to help
make this world a little more super.
This event will be hosted by Thanatos (a.k.a. The Dark Avenger) who is
currently active in Vancouver, British Columbia. Having been operational
for more than one year, he is involved in crime fighting by being extra
eyes and ears for law enforcement, as well as conducting his own
investigations.
Thanatos also performs charity work, having raised monetary donations for
Easter Seals. Additionally, he coordinates his own “monthly mission” to help
local homeless individuals with food, blankets, clothing and other essentials.
The actual meet-up takes place over four days. February 22, 23, 24,25 and
will occur at different locations in the city.
Activities will include helping the homeless, neighborhood watch patrols and
education sessions for those interested.
For further information please contact Thanatos at the above listed email or
cell phone number (evenings please). Locations to be announced as
finalization of events takes place.

This was done with some input from various sources and talking with some who are planning to attend. this can generate some positive PR at least locally that I can make use of in the future. (good media relationships could be valuable) and let people know who and what we are.
it tells the police that we are here and no threat to them and they are welcome to interact with us. this can build good police relations just by being honest and open.
it lets olympic security know we are out there so they may not shoot first.
only those who want to talk t
